Omnibook 5700 BIOS update

I am running BIOS version 3.12 right now and I was wondering if it would be worth the effort to upgrade to version 3.16.

Thanks

Re: Omnibook 5700 BIOS update

Matt, flashing a BIOS is risky - it may make your machine unusable if it fails. If you are not experiencing any of the problems listed in the BIOS revision history, I wouldn't recommend it.

If you do go ahead, take precautions:
- Make sure you have a connection to power and a charged battery
- Use a NEW floppy disk and create the boot floppy on a reliable floppy drive
- Remove all PCMCIA cards and other peripherals attached to the Omnibook

And do not let the notebook lose power at anytime during the reflash, if you lose power then the flash will fail and will probably render the system unusable as mark said. It usually takes less than 5 minutes to complete.
