Re: OMNIBOOK BIOS PASSWORD

Hi Sherif,

You'll have to contact HP Omnibook Support (970-635-1000) for help with resetting your password, as no master password is available.

Re: OMNIBOOK BIOS PASSWORD

This can be done remotely. You'll probably have to fax proof of ownership to HP.

Re: OMNIBOOK BIOS PASSWORD

I don't know why you equate free with easy. They do want to have some traceable record that this laptop was in someone real person's hands... in case it turns up reported stolen.

We should be thankful for this, some other big companies (ahem IBM) will not even consider helping you remove a password.

Re: OMNIBOOK BIOS PASSWORD

It seems to me the motherboard has no battery and a pswd reset jumper so that you can only rely on HP Support line. Am I right? How come?

Re: OMNIBOOK BIOS PASSWORD

I bought a second hand from an auction so I don't think HP will give me the master password. Bad luck!

Re: OMNIBOOK BIOS PASSWORD

Again, there is no "master" password. They have tools that can decrypt your password based on a special string you get through a certain key combination.

You don't have to be the original owner, you just have to produce some kind of proof from whom you bought the laptop, when, etc. Hp has no problem helping you with 2nd, 3rd, etc laptops.

cheers HP!
