My Omnibook 4150B beeps and won't boot up

[ Edited ]

I have an Omnibook 4150B running Windows 2000 that all of a sudden just beeps a pattern and won't boot up when it's powered on. The pattern is beep, beep-beep-beep, beep-beep-beep, beep. Has anyone experienced this problem before? If so, can you suggest a remedy?

Sounds like Phoenix BIOS. Your pattern is:

1-3-3-1 28 Autosize DRAM.

which I suppose means that there is a problem with the RAM. Another site says:

1-3-3-1 Extended memory error so I'd try to change out the RAM and just hope the bad RAM is not hardwired to the system. (just checked -it doesn't have any hardwired in.) says you need:

144 pin SODIMM

128MB â CT406347 SDRAM, PC100 CL=2 Non-parity

at $55.99

But you can shop around.

Instructions for replacing RAM at:

You will need adobe reader to see the above.
