Upgrading memory on a Nc6000

Hi!
I have a HP Compaq Nc6000 with 256 Mb RAM memory and I want to upgrade it. I want to know if I can upgrade it with a 1Gb DDR and keep the 256Mb. And in which slot should I put them. Can I put a 1Gb at 400 Mhz?

Thanks.

Re: Upgrading memory on a Nc6000

NC6000 takes up to 2 gigs DDR333 or PC2700 SO-DIMM. You can use a DDR400 module but it will only run at 333, and certainly will run no faster than the memory you mix it with. So yes you can put a 1 gig stick in the underneath slot combined with the 256 that is under the keyboard.

Re: Upgrading memory on a Nc6000

Can I buy this memory?

Transcend DDR333 1GB (TS128MSD64V3A)
- 1024MB
- 2.5 Volts
- DDR 333Mhz (PC 2700)
- 200 pin DDR SDRAM

In the Transcend site it says it's another memory (TS1GHP890B)DDR333 1GB MEMORY MODULE FOR HP NOTEBOOK. (DC890B)

I'm a little afraid of buying the first one and then it's isn't compatible.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah if you are going to buy from Transcend or Crucial or Kingston get the module recommended for your specific model and they guarantee compatibility. Otherwise you are on your own. But I suspect either one would work. Still, you are paying and I am not.

Re: Upgrading memory on a Nc6000

Humm..I see.. The question is... I'm from Portugal and here we don't have such a wide range of products from the different manufacturers. The "nearest" memory I find is really this one... I think it will work too, but as you say, they don't confirm it's compatibility.. :s

I'll try to order the specific one...if it's not possible, i guess i'll have to try this one.

Thanks for all the help! :D
