Probook 6570b - Are the CPU & GPU upgradeable?

Hi, I bought a refurbished Probook 6570b running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. It seems it doesn't come with the core cpu but rather a celeron B840 1.9GHz. Nor has it a discrete Graphics unit.

My question is this. Are the CPU & GPU upgradeable?

Thanks for taking time to read this!

The CPU's are upgradeable. According to HP's product bulletin the following should be supported:

3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3540M (3.0 GHz, 4 MB L3 cache, 35W, 2 cores)*
Up to 3.70 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology
3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3520M (2.90 GHz, 4 MB L3 cache, 35W, 2 cores)*
Up to 3.60 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology
3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i5-3380M (2.90 GHz, 3 MB L3 cache, 35W, 2 cores)*
Up to 3.60 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology

3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i5-3210M (2.50 GHz, 3 MB L3 cache, 35W, 2 cores)*†
Up to 3.10 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology
3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i3-3130M (2.60 GHz, 3 MB L3 cache, 35W, 2 cores)

Intel® Celeron® B840 (1.90 GHz, 2 MB L3 cache, 35W, 2 cores)*

with a better CPU you also get some slightly better integrated graphics. If you want discrete graphics, HP supports the following graphics card: AMD Radeon™ HD 7570M, with 1 GB dedicated GDDR5 video memory

Re: Probook 6570b - Are the CPU & GPU upgradeable?

On my machine a CPU upgrade also required a cooling unit upgrade for the CPU, from a 35 watt unit to a 55 watt unit.

It might be worth checking to see if yours needs  a similar coordinated upgrade if you choose to go fer a high end processor.

[ Edited ]

I had been wondering about configurations myself. I recently acquired a mint 6470b from the HP Business refurb sales site. Very happy with this so far. What little I could decipher about the configs of this series of ProBook is that to have a discrete video adapter it needs to have the AMD processor; all models with Intel (and mine has a nice i5) work with integrated graphics (in my case the Intel 4000). If anyone has any different observations, by all means post away...
