On the official pages for the elitebook 2540p it is stated that Suse Linux should work on the 2540p.
I tried with no success to get as well:
Ubuntu 10.04 (64 and 32 bit) - as well in text/line mode as graphics installer
working. All seems to start installing and "something" is going on, but I cannot get it sufficiently finalised to see anything working. The problem seems to be the Intel graphics chipset. . Search on internet reveals others have had the same problem. One tells to use during install of Ubuntu: i915.modeset=0.
The pc is running fine with win7 and partioned with 75Gb for the windows, 100 for data (logical E) and remaining up to 250 for linux.
Can anyone indicate a direct cd/iso download which will work. Searching on hp.com does not reveal any drivers or direct link . And the active hp instant support does not support this model !! (We're sorry, but the information you entered is not of a currently supported model),
