Hi there,

i would like to know, if there is any option to disable the annoying notifications of the HP hotkey support software?

(I am sorry, if this is the wrong subforum for my post)

What WIndows version are you using?  What type of laptop do you have?

Hello,

I have the same problem, those notifications are annoying (animation only causes their longer appearance) and sometimes they slow down certain applications.

It's also very disturbing when you have fullscreen app and something pops out because you turned on caps lock. Moreover when you click on it, you return from fullscreen to desktop.

It's especially annoying when you're creating 3D models for example.

I'm using HP ProBook 4330s Win7-64

Looking forward to solution.

EDIT:

I've found a "solution".

Who wants to get rid of notifications and still have hotkeys working, go to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\Shared

Find hpCaslNotification.exe and rename it.

Then open task manager and kill this process. You have to rename the file, simple killing won't work because hphotkeymonitor service runs it over and over.

Hope it helps.

Renaming/killing hpCaslNotification.exe does not disable the popups associated with the VolumeUp/Dn or mute/unmute media keys. The "Beats" logo is especially insulting (Bring back the JBL speakers!).

Killing the following process from the Task Manager works

HPOSD.exe

It lives in C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HP On Screen Display\

The best way to keep it disabled is to untick the checkbox for it via

WIN-R --> msconfig.exe --> Startup

PS Replying or logging-on is not possible using FireFox 12.0 (had to use IE8).

PPS How do I subscribe to receive email notifications? I was given the option when replying to another thread but not in this thread.

Yes, I've noted the problem here.  I had to try several times to get in.

At the top is the Topic Options menu, just use Subscribe there.  On the right is a post options menu, you can use Subscribe there too.
