HP Compaq nc8230 Notebook: LCD Screen going blank on boot up

Hello,
i have a 20 months old hp nc8230 (XP-SP2)notebook, which has started giving display problem from last week. The display goes blank when I boot up my notebook. I removed the battery, re-inserted and tried booting but no luck. Couple of times i held the screen straight and tried booting, in this case, the LCD display shows hp logo, windows text and then again goes blank.
The A/C adapter seems to be working.
I just went through the support doc in http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=... I will try rsetting the RAM as mentioned in it.

Any help on resolving this issue is highly appreciated.

Just sent mine in for repairs. The rep. said it might be the motherboard. Call customer support. It might have to go in for repairs too. Good luck.
