Problem: Computer doesn't always charge battery. If computer goes into hibernation, sleep, or powers off, then it may or may not start up. Fix is to unplug and remove battery. Then replace all and it will then start. This can take 1-8 attempts to start.
Compaq 6910p, Business Vista 32 bit with latest service pack.
Replaced battery. Ran test on new battery. Showed functioning correctly.
Tested Power Supply per HP instructions. Working properly.
Tested System Board by removing the battery and starting with just charger plugged in. LEDs showed correctly. Started up.
Calibrated new Battery (though it appeared that nothing changed and it all worked fine.
Additional Observation. Prior to new battery, the plug-in would always display if the computer was plugged in. Now, the plug in doesn't always show. If it doesn't register, I have to let the batter completely run down. Then let it recharge in order for me to use it for an additional two hours.
I am out of ideas. Any suggestions for troubleshooting would be appreciated.
