Bad image quality on second monitor

I managed to get the N600 driver installed on the N160 but I am now very disappointed with the image quality on that (21") monitor. Previously it was connected on a PC with 1280 x 1024 @ 85 Hz but currently the only acceptale image is 1024 x 768 @72 Hz. Higher frequencies/resolutions make the image unsharp. This is really bad, bad, bad - Any solutions? Christian

Re: Bad image quality on second monitor

I'm afraid the only thing I can tell you is that I am experiencing the same problem. There has been a technician here who changed the MB (since everything is integrated on the MB on a notebook), which didn't help much. I've been in contact with the (swedish) support several times and noone there has the slightest idea of what might be causing this problem! Seems to me Compaq is going to have to come up with a fix for this, or I'm returning my new notebook...

Hi Christian There is a Windows98 video driver for the Radeon M6-P for the Evo N160 on our web site at http://www.compaq.com/support/files/evonotebook/us/download/13558.html Thank you for using Compaq's Support Forum.

Re: Bad image quality on second monitor

I have the same problem on a NEC Multisync 85F (19"), which works fine with different video boards. I just upgraded the Radeon drivers from the Compaq support site without any improvement of the quality of the display. I can only confirm that 1024 x 768 @72 Hz, which is not exactly the reason why I bought this 400 Euro monitor.
