Armada and Windows XP Pro

[ Edited ]

I have an Armada 1750 6366 T6400 (128mb ram).
Are there prerequisite before upgrading to Windows XP Pro ?
Are there some arguments or risks not to do it ?
Thank you for your experience.

Re: Armada and Windows XP Pro

Finding the drivers you need for a new operating system is always a problem on a Notebooks. The drivers are so specialized that you can usually only get them from the Notebook manufacturer. I do not see the HP offers any XP software for yours.

They do offer 2000 which is close and may work but there is always a risk that some device (video/audio/modem/LAN etc) may not work after the upgrade. Not a big problem if you have the ability to restore what you had (You have the full disk set to restore your original operating system and drivers)but you may wind up with an unusable product if you don't.

Compaq has a white paper on the XP upgrade:|Microsoft%20Windows%20XP%20Professional&source=15U1-1001A-WWEN.xml&dt=21

You should read it. Note that HP/COmpaq does not support an upgrade to XP for your PC.
