hi I'm looking to upgrade to a t7200 cpu on a nc6400/RM741PA.
The part number is 435862-001 in the service and maintenance manual.
HP partsurfer doesnt detail the part beyond:
435862-001 Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7200 - 2.00GHz (Merom, 667MHz front side bus, 4MB Level-2 cache)
there are 2 t7200 core 2 duo mobile processor I can find/obtain:
SL9SL and SL9SF
the only difference seems to be the package type:
Micro-FCBGA v Micro-FCPGA
is ths critical? does this change socket type/fit?

ok..
found an explanation from intel PGA is a pin based connector on the CPU, BGA is balls..
http://www.intel.com/support/processors/sb/CS-0098 64.htm
no indication as what is actually used on the HP part/board. or if theyre interchangable.

I found a boot disk with cpu-z on it.
It ID's the socket as mPGA which makes it a SL9SF that I need,
cheers

Bob,
I know you've already found the answer via CPU-z, but just for reference.
BGA vs PGA - Ball Grid Array vs Pin Grid Array.
BGA CPU's are normally soldered to the systemboard (definitely not meant to be removed/changed). PGA CPU's are usually mounted in a socket.
