HP un2430 WWAN card problem

[ Edited ]

Dear all,

I'm an advanced windows pc user, but not a super admin on such machines.

My 8460p elitebook running windows7 enterprise 64bit has an un2430 WWAN option card installed, which works most of the time.

But from time to time HP connection manager 4.1.22.1 tells me, the device is disabled by device manager because device is reporting problems..

Somebody told me this is normal while connected to a wired LAN, but this happens even without such wired connection. Several reboots did not solve the problem, but "randomly" the device works again (maybe after a power cycle instead of a simple reboot?).

I cannot see a relation to whatever when the problem occurs/solves.

Drivers and software are up to date, internal cables (antenna) are connected properly.

Any idea?

BTW, i did not find a proper subforum for notebooks like this ...?

Dear mod, feel free to move the thread.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP un2430 WWAN card problem

I have the same configuration (except W7 Pro 64-bit) but fortunately for me, not the same problem. Have you been able to determine the error being reported in device manager when it occurs? I'm happy to provide any configuration settings for comparison if that would be of help. Graham.

Hi, Torsten!

I used to have WWAN issues ... well, with the other MBM that HP is offering for the 8460p/8560p Elitebooks, the hs2340 (Ericsson F5521GW) MBM. However, I successfully replaced the hs2340 with the un2430 (Sierra Wireless MC8355) MBM and haven't experienced any problems since on my 8560p.

I have installed the latest HP Connection Manager (v.4.3.8.1, sp57676) and the latest HP Sierra Wireless Driver Package for the HP un2430 Mobile Broadband Module (v.1.0.35.0, sp56967), despite the fact that they are both not officially mentioned on the 8560p's support website. Maybe installing these helps, even if they are not listed on the 8460p's support website, either ...

Cheers,

Lars

Re: HP un2430 WWAN card problem

Thank you Lars.

I was not notified about posts to this thread, sorry.

I found the software on this page

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=5217797&...

and installed it. Let's see if it helps.

The page for my system still lists older versions only ...

I noticed meanwhile the "disabled by device manager" issue occurs sometimes after wake up from hibernate.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP un2430 WWAN card problem

Hi,

There are a few issues with wwan cards on this model that might cause your problem.

- If your problem only occurs after sleep mode: go to device manager, select wwan card, select power managment, uncheck power safe option

- try to remove the card and place it back (sometimes the card is not seated correctly)

- In the HP conenction manager, go to the preferences, device power and uncheck the box before power off when exiting hp connection manager

Regards,

Ronald

Re: HP un2430 WWAN card problem

Have you tried this update

Version 4 of the HP Connection Manager indicates the status of the WWAN adapter card as Disabled in Device Manager . However, when the Microsoft Windows Device Manager is opened, the WWAN adapter card appears correctly enabled.

Re: HP un2430 WWAN card problem

it seems i figured it out. i used SP60930, then i went into the configfile for the installation that is located under the folder gobi.
opened the cinfiguration file and changed the value DOWNLOADALL=0 to DOWNLOADALL=1

then it started to download all the necessary files and works like a charm :D

Re: HP un2430 WWAN card problem

Hi

I have de same problems in windows 8, and fixed using this:

sp60920 - Sierra Wireless Driver Package for HP un2430 Mobile Broadband Module  1.0.45.0

sp61962 - HP connection Manager 4.5.25.1

when installing the driver windows user the build in version, to be sure that the sierra driver is installed

uncompress de driver, go to de directory sp60920\gobi and modify the configuration file, edit the value for silent, an run the setup.cmd.

now the driver instalation will be interactive, finally check device manager to be sure the correct drivers was installed

next run de connection manager 4.5, restart and hope this work for you.

and sorry my bad english, not my language
