EliteBook 2540p External Display on Docking Station [ Edited ]

Hi

I have a user with a 2540p laptop  on a 2540 docking station (product 603730-002). After undocking and then returning the laptop to the docking station the external monitor display resolution defaults to 640 x 480. I have tested with different docking stations and monitors but still the same issue.

All graphics driver software is up to date (Intel 6.14.10.5355)

The two monitors tested have 1680 x 1050 and 1900 x 1020 resolutions and both connect via VGA.

You can reset the resolution from the Display Properties page but this is a pain.

We are using Windows XP SP3.

Any further information needed let me know. Note we have a number of 2540p laptops but have not seen the issue elsewhere so I am at a loss.
