nnmsnmpnotify.ovpl command not create event in Incident Management

Hi all,

I have problem with nnmsnmpnotify.ovpl.

I'm using NNMi 9.20 on windows server 2008 r2 64-bit, in Management Event Configurations I created new event with SNMP Object ID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.17.19.2.0.9999. Then, from CMD, i issue the command below.

nnmsnmpnotify.ovpl -c password -v2c -a 192.168.0.11 localhost .1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.17.19.2.0.9999 .1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.17.19.2.2.1 Integer 14 .1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.17.19.2.2.2 OctetString 10.70.128.11 .1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.17.19.2.2.3 OctetString Serial0/0/0 .1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.17.19.2.2.4 OctetString "Connected to HSNUN."

No error appear when run the command but in Incident Management there is no new alert

Thank you for reading this.

Re: nnmsnmpnotify.ovpl command not create event in Incident Management

So I'll ask the obvious, do you have a SNMP trap with that oid configured and enabled ?

Have a nice day :)

Re: nnmsnmpnotify.ovpl command not create event in Incident Management

I thought nnmsnmpnotify.ovpl was used to generate traps? As such, shouldn't you be using the SNMP Trap Configurations in order receive the trap and generate an Incident?

Re: nnmsnmpnotify.ovpl command not create event in Incident Management

hi a4nm!

Maybe that's the cause. Can you give me some experiences on dealing with nnmsnmpnotify, new event, new trap,..on NNMi 9.

Thanks.

Re: nnmsnmpnotify.ovpl command not create event in Incident Management

Can you try nnmtrapdump.ovpl and see if its in NNM DB?

Re: nnmsnmpnotify.ovpl command not create event in Incident Management

Well thats an event, not a trap. If you want to fake an event, you need to open up the JMX-console and inject an incident.

Have a nice day :)

Re: nnmsnmpnotify.ovpl command not create event in Incident Management

Thanks Dharmnedra_T!

I create SNMP trap event as a4nm said, and the trap appears. nnmsnmpnotify.ovpl create a trap not a NNMi event.
