No, you dont.  What you need is to ensure there are no intervening access control lists, firewalls, you have at least a read only community string for that device specified in your communications settings, and that the device configuration allows your NNMi server to poll it by originating IP address.

Out of the box the following MIBs are used to discover most avaialble information about any SNMP device:

•Basic IPv4 Discovery & monitoring
−IETF-MIB-II  (RFC 1213)
−ETF-IF-MIB (RFC 2863, 2233, 1573)
−IETF-IP-MIB (RFC 2011)
•Layer 2 and VLANs
−IETF BRIGE MIB (RFC 4188, 1493)
−IETF Q-BRIDGE (RFC 4363, 2674)
−IEEE-LLDP
•Device 2Component Health (CPU, MEMBuf,
Fan, Power, Voltage, Temperature)
−IETFHOST-RESOURCES (RFC 2790)
•Redundant Routing Groups (HSPP, VVRP)
−IETF VRRP (RFCc 2787)
Have a nice day :)
