Symbols changed back after I changed them.

How do I preserve my changes. I put alot of effort into putting the correct
symbol on the icon and the software changes it back to the default. How do I
keep that from happening?

Re: Symbols changed back after I changed them.

Hello Al,
The ipmap service automatically assigns a symbol type and label based upon
information it receives from the netmon service. This means that if you modify
the symbol type or symbol label of an object that is managed by NNM, your
changes will be replaced by the values assigned by NNM the next time
configuration polling runs.
You can turn off this ipmap capability by setting the environment variable
IPMAP_NO_SYMBOL_CHANGES=TRUE. See the ipmap reference page in NNM?s online help
(or the UNIX manpage) for information about changing this environment variable.
Alternately, you can modify the oid_to_sym file to specify that a different
symbol be associated with a specific type of device (determined by
sysObjectID). See the oid_to_sym reference page in NNM?s online help
(or the UNIX manpage) for more information. See ?Changing All the Symbols for a
Particular Device? on page 575 for a complete example (Managing your Network).
