Node Interface status is not polled

Hi,

I'm using NNM 9.02 on Windows.Very less number of interfaces are being polled and most of them are not being polled(Both Administative status and Operational Status is not polled). Can you let me know what type of interfaces NNM polls by default once the router/switch is discovered.

When I see the network overview map, most of the node connections are having "No Status"(refer the attachment).Do I need to create a interface group for these interfaces for monitoring or is there any other way to monitor these interfaces(additional configuration).

Please help.
Thanks & Regards,

Re: Node Interface status is not polled

Hi,

Referring to the attachment, the links you see here is a connection of layer 3 which means IP addresses

By Default NNMi Monitor the management IP of the nodes using ICMP and to reduce the traffic, it monitor the Interfaces (layer 2) that are connecting another node (HP call it connected interfaces)in the NNMi map.

NNMi uses SNMP for The layer 2 Interface Monitoring

If you want to know which interfaces are collected by default, Check The interface groups on the configuration Workspace -> Monitoring Settings

    Hi Sam,
You may want to force certain interfaces to be monitored, you will find the full details on this link

Re: Node Interface status is not polled

If ForcePoll is not working, then u must also put a word in snmpd.conf file on Unix/Linux machines

here is the example for CentOS

    vi /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf

    rocommunity public default

    save it and close it

after that u must restart service

    service snmpd restart

    regards
