Those instructions assume that your server is set up with access to a Yum repository. Most RedHat or CentOS systems are.

You could go out and find the RPMs and manually install them.

What error message do you get when running yum?

You could also ask your local Unix admins to help you.

The package name is libjpeg.i686, not i868.

libjpeg-turbo has replaced libjpeg as of RHEL 6.4. It maintains API/ABI compatibility, but runs faster. Try installing that.

See here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/libjpeg-turbo and here: https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html-single/6.4_Releas...

Your screenshot didn't come through.

Your best option is to log a support case.

The installer must be checking that the specific package is installed, rather than looking for capabilities.

Try and find a copy of the libjpeg RPM.

Good to know that works. At some point HP's going to need to release an updated installer.

Re: How to install libjpeg.i868, libjpeg.x86_64 on linux for install HP NNMi iSPI Performance softwa

Hi,

my problem with libjpeg.i868 and libjpeg.x86_64 is a little bit different. I'm trying to install HP NNMi iSPI Performance on RHEL 6.4. I have libjpeg-turbo.i686 and libjpeg-turbo.x86_64 installed which replace libjpeg.i868 and libjpeg.x86_64, but still iSPI installer stuck during OS check with error: libjpeg.i868 and libjpeg.x86_64 missing.

Any idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Re: How to install libjpeg.i868, libjpeg.x86_64 on linux for install HP NNMi iSPI Performance softwa

I have libjpeg-turbo.i686 and libjpeg-turbo.x86_64 installed which replace libjpeg.i868 and libjpeg.x86_64, but still iSPI installer stuck during OS check with error: libjpeg.i868 and libjpeg.x86_64 missing.

Theinstaller is checking for any version of libjpeg (both 32 and 64 bit packages).  While libjpeg-turbo replaces these the installer is unfortunately not aware of that.

You could do one of the following:

1. meet the requirements

  • uninstall libjpeg-turbo
  • install the libjpeg libraries
  • run the perf spi installer
  • on completion upgrade to libjpeg-turbo (I think yum upgrade handles this)

Note: this could prove difficult because of dependencies on libjpeg-turbo

2. install the libjpeg libraries (on top of libjpeg-turbo)

  • obtain the URL for the libraries in question (you can determine this from the etc/yum.repos.d files and the package names) or you can copy the files to your system and install from there
  • use rpm with the "--force" option to install them (I don't think yum has such an option)
  • run the perf spi installer
  • after install remove the libraries
  • to be safe I would then run a yum reinstall of libjpeg-turbo

3. contact HP support, it is possible to create a hotfix to circumvent these installer checks

Here is an example from a <yumserver> install, replace it with yours.

               rpm -i http://<yumserver>/RedHat-yum/6.1Server/en/os/x86_64/Packages/libjpeg-6b-46.el6.x86_64.rpm --force

               rpm -i http://<yumserver>/RedHat-yum/6.1Server/en/os/x86_64/Packages/libjpeg-6b-46.el6.i686.rpm --force
