How can you know the dependency of SIM MIBs?

Hi everyone!

My customer tried to load SIM MIBs which link is below to NNMi 8.10.

They said that some MIBs can't load. I have tried to solve this ploblem.

Until now, I got find an idea that MIBs have dependencies like that one is a parent, other is child.

Now, I have a question. How can I know the dependency of SIM MIBs ?

Is there some resources about the dependency?

If you have some idia, would you like to help me?

Best Regards.

Re: How can you know the dependency of SIM MIBs?

At the starting of each MIB there will be few lines ending with FROM. For Eg:

IANAifType-MIB DEFINITIONS ::= BEGIN

IMPORTS
MODULE-IDENTITY, mib-2 FROM SNMPv2-SMI
TEXTUAL-CONVENTION FROM SNMPv2-TC;

In this case you need to have SNMPV2-SMI & SNMPv2-TC are the dependency.

Sometimes it happens that you might see just one FROM file and the dependent file has additional dependency. but the concept remains same.

HTH.

Re: How can you know the dependency of SIM MIBs?

If you look at the obsolecence matrix your customer needs to be planning thier migration to the 9.X as it reaches End of Support (EoS)  in December.

http://support.openview.hp.com/encore/products_f-n.jsp

Why would I bring this up ?  In NNMi 9.10 MIB loader window there's a column "Unloaded Prerequisite
MIB Imports"  which lists every MIB thats not loaded that needs to be before that MIB in turn can be loaded.

Have a nice day :)
