Re: HP NNM Critical Status

Hello Mostafa,

Based in error message you are experienced an problem with JVM memory configuration.

To help you to solve this issue, I need to know:

1. Current load of server.

Please send "health.log" file located in "%ovdatadir%\log\nnm" (in Windows).

2. The physical memory of system and platform.

3. NNMi JVM configuration.

To get JVM configuration, please send "ovjboss.jvmargs" file located in "%ovdatadir%\shared\nnm\conf\props".

Paulo

Re: HP NNM Critical Status

Hi Mostafa,

Based in data that you sent, do you have a overload in java memory.

Currently, you are using only 10G of 32G Physical memory available in system to java machine (where NNMi is running) and have a signifcant load.

When you have a memory bootleneck in java, the garbage collection process is called many times consuming time and stoping all Java machine while it clean the memory. In NNMi this means slowly process or fail.

To solve it, assuming this system is dedicated to NNMi, I suggest that you increase the java memory parameters to allocate 28G of 32G available (left 4G to OS). In the "ovjboss.jvmargs" file:

1. Comment the line below using "#":
-Xms512m
-Xmx10g

2. And insert this new line:
-Xms28g
-Xmx28g

This statements says to java machine to start allocating all 28G of the memory when start. This do the start process more slowly due the memory is allocated in this time, but after it, the process of allocation is more quickly.

Several parametrizations are possible. We are doing the minimal changes in default configuration here.

If you want know more, I suggest that you go to link below that explain java memory use and a tool to monitoring:

http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/management/jconsole.html

Let me know if it is clear or if you need any other information.

Paulo Freire

Re: HP NNM Critical Status

Hello Mostafa

You should go an  check how many  objects  are monitored by NNMi.

1-Check the system information.

e1.JPG

2-Check the monitored intefaces.

e2.JPG

3-Please check the support matrix with this data an refer for the  interface polled  section.

Please remember the requested  RAM memory is just for NNMi you shoul add further for the operating system and 1-4 for the postgrest data base.

Regarding the critical status you can try to do the following:

1- Stop the ovjboss process

ovstop ovjboss

2-Rename/Move the directory  to another location.

$NNM_JBOSS/server/nms/data/tx-object-store   (Unix)

%NNM_JBOSS%/server/nms/data/tx-object-store  (Windows)

  Restart ovjboss process

3-   ovstart ovjboss

4-Confirm that all the sub-processes of ovjboss have been started

ovstatus –v ovjboss

Re: HP NNM Critical Status

Guys , Now i am close to the pin point , i found out alot of State polling Collection Warning , and lot of ICMP polling for IP addresses that i can not reach because of Routing issues , Hence the ICMP polling can be disabled or Routing need to be enabled for them ,

All the best .
