Sleep mode; firmware update for 4345mfp

Hello all: For a while now, I have been unable to wake my 4345mfp up when it was asleep, other than by turning it off and on. I decided to install the latest firmware, but haven't manage to do it. I downloaded ljM4345mfpfw_48_061_8.customer.bundle.rfu and sent it to the printer using the Command prompt, as described in the ReadMe file and on http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00267158&jumpi... Everything appeared to work as it should - about five minutes of "processing job" and then a reboot. But - the Firmware Datecode on the Configuration page still shows the old date code. And I still can't wake the lazy sod up. Help?

Re: Sleep mode; firmware update for 4345mfp

Ensure the device is not in sleep mode when applying the updated firmware.

Hope this helps resolve

Re: Sleep mode; firmware update for 4345mfp

Thanks for the response. It couldn't have been in sleep mode when it went through the "processing job" and reboot cycle, could it?

I've been reading some of other threads about the 4345. Should I be doing some sort of reset after the new firmware is loaded? I assumed it would do what ever was necessary on its own.

Re: Sleep mode; firmware update for 4345mfp

Read last comments LOL
Try a cold reset on the device but before print off configuration page for ip details etc.

See attached for Cold reset instructions this will restore the device to orignal factory settings then update the firmware again.

hostnam ip and DSS for digital sending will need to be reaplied but might wake the thing up.

Last resort is Replace formatter.

Hope this is better help :-D

Re: Sleep mode; firmware update for 4345mfp

I have been working on a printer that has been having the same problem for about 3 months now. We have changed the formatter twice and have done a cold reset, reset the nvram and reset the hard drive. By doing all that the machine still doesn't wake up. Can anyone here think of anything else.. I am open to just about any suggestions at this point.

Re: Sleep mode; firmware update for 4345mfp

Sorry, John Conelly; I've only just seen your reply, for which many thanks. I'll try what you suggest, though I may not be able to get to it for a couple of weeks. The printer has been a bit better behaved lately, for no reason that I can see. Perhaps it's just growing out of that teenage phase when it has to have a lot of sleep. Thanks again.

If your printer is networked:
There has been a problem with the HP Standard TCP/IP port that was resolved in late October. The install file for the updated HP Standard TCP/IP port is located on the HP site at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&swItem=jd-657...
