Officejet 7410 Scanner failure

My 7410 issues a scanner failure alert upon being turned on. The bulb lights, but as start-up proceeds, the bulb travel mechanism bumps twice against the right hand side of the device (as viewedd from the front) and the error message comes up.

Does anyone have suggestions?

Thanks.

Re: Officejet 7410 Scanner failure

Hi Malcolm

More often then not scanner failure is a hardware malfunction error

-Make sure the printer is directly connected to the wall jack.remove any surge protector if applicable

-Do a power cycle

Turn the unit off.
Unplug the power cord from the unit.
Wait 30 seconds, and then re-connect the power cord to the unit.
Turn the unit on.

- Do a partial reset

unplug the power cord
press and hold the # and 6 key simultaneously and while holding both the keys plug the power cord back in
release both the keys

See if the error message persists after this

Hi Brother

Unfortunately it seems to be a problem with the printer and it needs a service.
