When you try to copy with this printer it says to turn off the device and to turn it back on, and if the message reappears to contact support. When turned off, it just displays the same error again. Help? What should be done?

From the service manual.
30.1.34 Loss of communication with the formatter or
cable error.
1. Turn off the device and then turn on
the device.
2. Check the connections between the
scanner assembly and the formatter.
3. Make sure that the hard disk drive on
the formatter is connected correctly
and that the hard disk is functioning
correctly.
4. This error condition can be related to
network traffic at the customer site;
isolate the MFP from the network and
troubleshoot accordingly.
5. If the message persists, replace the
scanner assembly.
