Re: HP 8100N with 5 tray's

Hi Raymond,

I'm going to link a document (below) that may help the issue you're having:

http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport/get_doc.pl?SNI=hplaserjet7855&LC=printers&Tfile=bpl07293

Also, are you experiencing this problem from all all Windows applications, or just Word?

Good luck!

Re: HP 8100N with 5 tray's

The proposed solution did not work.
The problem is related to all programs.
If you set tray 4 as default tray and print a test page, it will be printet from tray 5.

Re: HP 8100N with 5 tray's

Hi again Raymond,

First, in Windows, go to Start, Settings, Printers and right click on the 8100. Select Properties and then the Configure tab... make sure the checkmark is on next to Tray 4 installed.

That may help in Windows; however, if your printer won't print a self test from that tray by itself (without software), it could need to be reset. Turn off the printer and remove the JetDirect card (otherwise the IP addresses will be reset, too). Hold the Go button down while powering the printer on. Check to see if Tray 4 works at that point. If it does, then turn the printer back off and reinstall the JetDirect card. When you power it back on, just don't press Go when powering up and the JetDirect settings won't be lost.

If the tray continues to give you trouble, I would call Customer Support at (208) 323-2551 to go through your menu settings with an agent.

Good luck!

Kathy
