Cold reset for 4730mfp?

[ Edited ]

We've got a color laserjet 4730mfp that is cranky. I've looked through the manual and can't find anywhere how to do a cold reset. All I can find in the online FAQ is resetting the JetDirect print server. And nothing specifically for the 4730 anyway.

Anybody know how to do it?

TIA

Re: Cold reset for 4730mfp?

Remove the JetDirect Card first unless you want to reset the JEtDirect Card also. If so, make sure you print a Configuration Page out so that you know the JD's Setting.

1). Turn printer off.
2). Hold down the Green color Check botton and turn printer on.
3). Let it go after Language= Englis is shown.
3). Use the Up/DOwn Arrow bottons to scroll down to Reset to Factory Default.
4). Press teh Green Check botton.

Re: Cold reset for 4730mfp?

Your response is incorrect, on 4730 MFP's to perform a cold reset you power the printer off, press and hold the #6 button, power the printer on and when the memory count finishes, stop pressing the #6 button and use the #3 button to scroll up, #9 button to scroll down and the #6 button to select your choice. Hope this helps someone!

Re: Cold reset for 4730mfp?

Steps To perform a cold reset on laserjet 4730 printer

1. Turn the MFP off and then on.
2. When the memory count appears on the control panel display, press and hold 6 until all three
LEDs flash once and then stay on. This might take up to 20 seconds.
3. Press 3 four times until COLD RESET appears on the control panel display.
4. Press 6 one time. The MFP continues its initialization sequence.

A cold reset unlocks menus that have been previously locked and resets all control panel menu
items to the factory defaults. A cold reset does not clear the values in the service menu, such as the
serial number and the page counts.

NOTE Before performing a cold reset, print a menu map and a configuration page.Use the information on these pages to reset customer-specific settings

All HP Jetdirect settings are also reset. Be sure to print a configuration page
before performing a cold reset. Make note of the IP address that is listed on the Jetdirect
configuration page. You will need to restore the IP address after performing a cold reset.
