HP NL571AA USB Adapter - Dimming when hitting F12 or Pause Break

My company just purchased a large number (thousands) of the HP NL571AA adapters to add a second monitor to our employee's machines. These devices use the DisplayLink Core universal driver, and previously we were using the eVGA UV-16 USB device which uses the same driver. We switched over to the HP devices due to eVGA not making their device any longer, and the fact that HP had reliable numbers of them in stock.

However, once we started deploying these devices, we noticed that when hitting the F12 or Pause/Break key in certain applications, the second monitor attached the HP USB device would go dim. Strangely it doesn't occur for all users. It will eventually come back, but we are at a loss for what is causing this. I cannot find any options in the DisplayLink Core driver for hotkeys to do this, or even any other brightness settings other than the on-screen monitor displays. We've tried swapping out the devices thinking they defective, but a replacement HP NL571AA still does the same thing.

Can anyone provide us assistance?
