Re: HP LP2065 20-inch LCD Monitor

Use a DVI-I to VGA cable to connect the monitor to a notebook's VGA port. Two such cables should have been included with this monitor. (DVI-I end connects to the display, VGA end to the notebook).

If you don't have the original cables, you can use third party cables such as this one from Startech:

Re: HP LP2065 20-inch LCD Monitor

Thanks for cable tip, but it will be an expensive import to get it shipped here

however I was trying to bypass that by using a Tripplite DVI-I Female to VGA Male Adapter-[TRI P126-000,from DVI-to-VGA-of laptop,

but it’s not recognized.

My question still is why?

I was also trying to find dell VGA drivers for 64 bit Vostro, but closest I got was

AMD Radeon HD 7650M , I downloaded  this to add to my intell HD graphics family ,under Display adapters>Device manager

Re: HP LP2065 20-inch LCD Monitor

Is the DVI cable you're using a DVI-I or DVI-A cable? If it's a DVI-D cable and not a DVI-I or DVI-A cable, that would be why it isn't working with the adapter. (DVI-D cables will physically fit in a DVI-I connector, but don't have the additional pins to transmit the analog VGA data).

DVI-D cables are strict digital only; DVI-A cables are essentially VGA cables with DVI connectors; DVI-I cables are capable of either VGA/analog or DVI/digital signals and can carry both.

Here's an article you can refer to that has illustrations about the cables so you can verify.

Re: HP LP2065 20-inch LCD Monitor

It’s DVI-D single link, so that explains it, so theres no way it will work on a laptop except from HDMI port

Re: HP LP2065 20-inch LCD Monitor

No way it'll work with a DVI-D cable, no. It simply doesn't have the wiring to carry the VGA signal.

If you get a male/male DVI-I or DVI-A cable to use with the adapter you already have, then it'd work.
