I got a quick question if anyone knows the answer that would be great. We have a few of these HP Docking Monitors and the drivers that came with it installs fine on Windows 8 x64. When the monitor is connected via the USB cable, the network component and input devices works fine but the screen would not display anything. If we connect it via the VGA port the monitor would work. I have tried to download and install the SMSC drivers for UFX7000 and that did not fix it. Mind you the docking monitor connected via USB on windows 7/XP works very well. I have tried it on multiple desktops and laptops and they all work but not with Windows 8 x64. Is there any updated windows 8 drivers or solution for this? I have checked BIOS settings and also USB settings but in vain. Any ideas ?

I've got almost the same problem. Windows 8 (x64) does not see the monitor or simply crash when attempting to install / reinstall some of the driver software (Software and base UFX7000 USB Graphics Driver). PC-s are new and clean. Windows is licensed and updated. Tried redownloading from different mirrors, using the disc and hp official driver and downloads support. Same results. No effect....

Yep no signal sent to screen for me at all - no crashes or anything, drivers load fine but that's it. I have a HP L2311c UFX7000 USB Graphics in Device Manager.

I Have a Lenovo Thinkpad Carbon X1 on Win 8 Pro 64bit.
C'ant get the L2311C to connect to my PC via USB3. Not a single USB or LAN connection is working. No image either.
First attempted to install drivers from CD, then downloaded from HP Website.
No result so far.
Please HP, respond.

I am having exactly the same issue and opened a support case with HP. They are taking too long so I did some investigation and it seems like the controller is manufactured by SMSC.
I have created an account there to download the legacy drivers which I have uploaded to rapidshare. Unfortunately I couldn't test them, yet as I am not sitting in front of my L2311C right now. However here are the links for others to try:

We're having the same issue in our environment.
The installers don't seem to be up on Rapidshare any longer. Any chance you still have a copy of these files?

The same problem here.. But with Windows 8.1 x64 - I downloaded from HP the Windows 8x64 drivers but nothing: It detects the LAN, sound device, etc. but no Display Device is found, so I need to use a VGA cable.
The drivers in rapidshare are no longer available either.. Any solution?? - Please, help!

i have the same problem.
Win8.1 64bit in HP 2570p with L2311c. All connected, except display.
i connect 2 machines to display to L2311c. one with VGA and 2750p with USB. USB display no more work now.
it's very inconvenient.
any one can help ?

I have the same problem as several of you. Attempting to connect the HP Docking Monitor L2311 to a HP Envy laptop with windows 8.1 x64 and usb 3 ports. Software apparently loaded successfully but the monitor does not recognize the laptop. Has HP come up with any solution yet? It appears to be another windows 8 compability issue.

here is a link to the latest version. unfortunately there is no Windows 8.1 support for the UFX7000, thanks to a Korean Website (driver is in English)

Did anyone got this monitor to work with Windows 8.1?
I'm still struggling to get it to work, but it didn't work out yet.
I think it's a shame that there isn't any updated driver from HP yet for this fairly new product line!

HP told me this monitor will NOT support Windows 8.1. That's very shameful, because this PDF document says:
Includes a standard, limited three-year warranty for parts, labor and on-site
service. Availability varies by region. Certain restrictions and exclusions apply.
For details, contact HP Customer Support."
Manufactured date is April 2012. Windows 8.1 is a suggested upgrade (the user is notified by it) on Windows 8. I think it will be VERY reasonable for HP to create a Windows 8.1 driver.
I can confirm users who did a UPGRADE from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 got this monitor working! But with a clean install, it won't work (at least I didn't succeed in it yet).
Driver versions on which it does work when you upgrade from 8 tot 8.1:
HP L2311c UFX7000 USB Graphics (SMSC) driver: 188.8.131.527
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 driver: 184.108.40.20632
So the weird part is that the monitor is able to work, but only when upgrading. That also tells us it won't be a very big deal for HP to provide us with a Windows 8.1 driver. But I'm pretty sure they just don't care about us. I spoke with a HP support representative, he told me that a (for the public) classified internal document tells him that Windows 8.1 is not in any future plans. My thoughts on this is that HP should care somewhat more about their userbase and provide us with a working driver, I don't care how basic the driver will be, I just want to be able to use my second monitor!

I have been working on this issue with HP support since November 2013. During that time we got severel replacement monitors and I also send in a Notebook to them for testing.
Today I received yet another L2311c monitor (manufactured May 2013) and that one works with Folio 1040 notebooks running Windows 8.1. Older monitors do not work! However, the new monitor does still not work with Folio 9470m Notebooks. Both notebooks use the same driver version. I will do testing with Elite Notebooks next week.
Under windows 7 the L2311c monitors manufactured before May 2013 work with all HP Elitebook models, but not with Folio models running Windows 7.
It is most likely a USB hardware issue in the monitor causing these problems. HP should address this as the monitor is relatively new and still sold. We are in the process of upgrading all 125 notebooks from Win7 to Win81 and must slow wait now with completing the upgrade until HP has come up with a solution
