Is it possible using VuGen 11.52 to record a Windows 8.1 app that runs natively and not from the desktop? What protocol would it be? I'm at a bit of a loss where to start even on how to use the protocol advisor for this setup.

So far is not supported, it may work but there is no way to know, remember that by desing vugen record communication, so if this is client side will not be recorded and we dotn really care too much on how the application is designed, as long as it uses communication and what kind of communication is uses, so ask the developers about the communication protocols it uses and start by there.
hope this helps.

To update this:
I've managed to record using the Loadrunner "sniffer" app and the mobile protocol, but the analyze doesn't generate much from the traffic. I've had a look at the .pcap file using Wireshark and I can see a fair amount of traffic in there. Most of the traffic is described as TCP and I think the Loadrunner file analyzer is only picking up the few comms described as HTTP. Is it possible to get it to analyse the TCP traffic too and generate code from that too?
