I think a performance comparison between languages under HP-UX would also be fully relevant

Dear HP-UX user,

Because I had a personal need to better know about my Web visitors, I wrote such Linux code first using Perl, next using C and Java, finally pushing the curiosity somehow farther, I also wrote the Ruby and Python versions. I have been extremely surprised and pleased with the excellent Ruby performance, badly surprised when using a PCRE library based Python code compared to regular Python (it did not hold its promises). I am pleased by the OpenJDK performances especially in client mode.

All the relevant details can be found at http://vouters.dyndns.org/tima/All-OS-Perl-C-Java-PCRE-Google_query_coming_from_this_country.html

If someone owns such figures on HP-UX on simple programming cases such as the one in the above URL or this one at http://vouters.dyndns.org/tima/Linux-Tcl-PHP-Perl-Python-Ruby-Java-C-C++-PCRE-Turning_Cobol_DECforms... he remains welcomed.

Philippe
