HP Discover: Main stage summary - Day 1
While I generally prefer smaller gatherings and more interactive meetings (such as the Customer Advisory Board), the main stage sessions are a great way to learn about broader HP strategy, see new products, and hear our senior leaders share their thoughts on industry trends.
You can read about CEO Leo Apotheker’s address here.
More relevant to readers of this blog was Marge Breya, general manager, HP Software’s, introduction of the HP IT Performance Suite, which I blogged about last week.. She discussed the performance challenges CIOs face and how having a comprehensive dashboard with key performance indicators helps them better run their business. She showed some screens from the CIO edition of this solution and had some great examples of how customers can benefit from comprehensive approach to managing IT and business performance.
The IT Performance Suite (ITPS) was a common topic of conversation among customers, partners, and peers during the week. Most of my discussions focused on how ITPS used metrics collected by the products in the Operations Center portfolio, such as Operations Manager, SiteScope, Performance Manager, and our Smart Plug-Ins. The short answer is that the Operations Center metrics rolls up and ITPS combines it with other metrics from other parts of the portfolio to provide executives with a complete picture of how their business is running. I’m sure this will be a topic of ongoing interest as the new editions of ITPS come out in the coming months.
For HP Operations Center, Peter Spielvogel.
