Global beverage company improves collaboration by using HP Operations Manager (success story)

A global 500 beverage company was having difficulty determining causes of outages and/or performance problems.  This was partly due to a lack of visibility across different IT domains.  For example, virtualized resources had their own separate monitoring group.  This beverage company was monitoring more than 10,000 infrastructure components comprising of heterogeneous servers (Linux, Windows, and Unix), network devices, databases, middleware, and packaged applications.  In order to solve their problems, they started using HP Operations Manager, Smart Plug-Ins or SPIs, and SiteScope from HP’s Operations Center product line.


By using these products, this company reduced IT management costs, reduced the number of separate monitoring teams, automated problem resolution, and increased collaboration among different IT groups.   Numbers tell it all:  They reduced:


  • their operating expenses by 40% to 50%
  • their downtime costs associated with outages by 10% to 20%
  • the mean time to repair IT outages (MTTR) by 10% to 20%
  • the amount of time spent diagnosing a typical IT problem by approximately 30 minutes

The overall impression of the HP Operations Center products they used? Their IT Manager said:


“HP Operations Center allowed us to monitor network devices across our complex network, improving our visibility for availability. And Agent deployment across our distributed environment provides us the capability to identify issue locally and setup auto actions to resolve where possible.”
