Risk management highest priority for the midsize enterprise

By Shari Cravens   You would think that the bigger the company, the more importance is placed on risk management.  Not so demonstrates a new study comparing the IT buying preferences between large and midsize enterprises (MSEs).  Last month, HP commissioned Forrester Consulting to research the use of business technology among 389 companies globally. They surveyed and compared results between 136 large companies and 253 midsize enterprises.  A key finding:  Risk and compliance strategies take higher priority for mid-market than larger firms.

Other takeaways are:

·         For IT Management, risk management is the no. 1 priority of 92 percent of the participating MSEs

·         79 percent of MSE respondents rate support of regulatory compliance important/very important when making software investment decisions in 2010

·         79 percent of MSE respondents rate business continuity as a high/critical priority in 2010

Data protection for midsize businesses can be challenging.  MSEs need the robustness and protection of large enterprise data protection solutions, but must keep costs under control. That’s why HP Data Protector is ideal for the midsize enterprise of 1,000 to 10,000 employees – it delivers all the value at a fraction of the cost. Indeed, more than 37,000 customers worldwide rely on Data Protector to protect their physical and virtual servers from a single, easy-to-use interface. And now Data Protector provides eight methods of protection for both Hyper-V and VMware virtual environments. And with one of the simplest and least expensive licensing models in the industry, HP Data Protector costs up to 70 percent less than alternative solutions.

HP Data Protector for MSEs is just one of several solutions HP offers to meet the unique needs of the midsize enterprise (1,000 to 10,000 employees.)
