The new face of UCMDB 9.10 – UCMDB Configuration Manager!

At Software Universe in Barcelona this week, HP introduced UCMDB-Configuration Manager (UCMDB-CM), an instant-on module that is part of the UCMDB product delivered with UCMDB 9.10. It introduces new policy-based topology and inventory configuration analysis and its User Interface was built specifically to allow UCMDB users to work with the rich CI data provided by HP’s market leading Discovery & Dependency Mapping solution. UCMDB-CM is automatically entitled to existing and new UCMDB owners.

With the new Universal CMDB 9.10 release we are packaging the product so that the UCMDB will be comprised of 3 components: Foundation: The Foundation component is what we know and love as the UCMDB today.   Discovery: The discovery control panel is included in UCMDB 9.10. Configuration Manager: The UCMDB Configuration Manager (UCMDB-CM) the new component of the product that provides us with new capabilities that target the configuration managers and configuration owners.

UCMDB-CM is so important because our UCMDB customers have told us that though they love the depth and breadth of UCMDB Foundation, they sometimes get resistance from their configuration owners to use the product for managing their configurations.  Our new UCMDB-CM introduces a purpose fit UI aligned with how these use personas would expect to interact and manage their configurations.
