Just Released -- Gartner 2011 MarketScope for the IT Asset Management Repository

Positive was the highest rating given to any vendor evaluated in the MarketScope which I like.

There are some good overview observations about trends driving interest and adoption of asset management. Effective software license management is front and center today. I expect this to only grow as automated request fulfillment grows and starts including more licensed software. Private cloud billing is also another good application growth area for asset management.

If you read the report, you will likely notice the knock on growth which I do NOT like. Specifically for HP, this is largely much ado about nothing as we changed some reporting back to Gartner. Product line details are confidential, but there was a reporting change on a component that historically rolled up under HP Asset Manager. There will be some other product line that benefits from the shift.
