Introducing HP Configuration Management System 9.0

As you all know, HP Configuration Management System (CMS) is comprised of HP Universal Configuration Management Database (UCMDB) and HP Discovery & Dependency Mapping (DDM).

We are excited to announce the release of HP CMS 9.0 which is a significant advancement from version 8.0. With 9.0, HP has created a new module, Integration Studio, within HP UCMDB 9.0 to make integration and federation easier.  This release also raises the bar on discovery breadth and depth that are showcased via enhancements to HP DDM 9.0.

Customers are excited about this version of HP CMS because HP’s discovery breadth has been enhanced and includes new discovery capabilities for virtualization and new integrations to third party tools.  In addition, HP UCMDB offers a new user interface for integration and federation that improves the ability to leverage multiple Management Data Repositories as part of your CMS.

HP UCMDB 9.0 is included with purchases of HP DDM 9.0, HP Service Manager 9.20 and HP Asset Manager 9.0.

Here are some of the highlights clients will get with CMS 9.0:

  1. Enhanced virtualized discovery and partners.  HP CMS has this ability to perform event driven discovery for VMware environments when new virtual machines are created or when virtual machines are moved with technologies such as VMware VMotion. These changes are then automatically updated into the HP Universal CMDB.  This is critical given the dynamic nature of virtualized environments.  HP has broadened their discovery breadth with new partnerships with Troux, a leading Enterprise Architecture tool, and Aperture Vista, a leading data center planning and management tool.  These two partners allow HP CMS to decompose services from the business process layer down to the physical rack and power system layer.
  2. Enhanced integration and federation capability.  HP UCMDB 9.0 features a new user interface to help organizations with integration, federation and reconciliation.   HP UCMDB 9.0 also features improved compatibility with other products in the HP BTO portfolio such as HP Service Manager 9.20.  HP UCMDB 9.0 federation capability helps companies deliver on the promise of ITIL’s version 3.0 definition of a federated Configuration Management System.

HP UCMDB and DDM 9.0 is available for purchase now and shipments will begin by mid-June 2010.  For more information, go to the HP Configuration Management System web page.
