IAITAM conference, Country Music mecca or Hockey Night in Nashville!

I have to say, I am excited.  This is my first IAITAM conference – I finally get to meet many of the people I have been corresponding with (especially on the ISO 19770-2 SWID tag topic).

But, back to the conference - I arrived today – Tuesday afternoon.  After the obligatory e-mail check and conference calls – it is time to go and start mingling (or sponging knowledge).  Tonight was a social cocktail hour – at the historic Ryman Auditiorium – the mecca of Country Music – the place where Johnny Cash and many others played back in the day.  OK, I admit, I am not a fan of country music (care to guess my favourite type of music or band?  Hint – there is more than one), but even I love some Johnny Cash songs.

Wait, back to IAITAM – after my conversations tonight – I can’t wait for the sessions to start.  But, as luck would have it, the evening got even better – I managed to catch a bit of live action between the Calgary Flames and Nashville Predators.   I have to admit, the game was a bit of a bore, not much hitting and the final was 1:0 Calgary in OT – so all is well (the Flames are the favourite team of one of my sons and I really like Jarome Iginla).

Next two and a half days will be full of ITAM related conversations - I can’t wait, I am sure I will learn a ton of new information and I hope everyone else will too.

If you are interested in IT Asset Management – I am sure this is the place to be this week.  If you are at the conference, make sure you check out the HP booth – we would love to talk to you about Asset Management – especially HP Asset Manager (sorry, have to do a bit of a plug J).  Yes, I have been holding out on some HP related ISO 19770-2 SWID tag news, but come and check us our booth (you never know, you may even win an HP Mini).

More updates soon. I promise!
