HP's David Cannon receives itSMF Lifetime Achievement Award at itSMF Fusion 2010 conference

David has been internationally known for his many years, and contributions, to the itSMF and to ITIL.  He is a co-founder of itSMF and a number of  local itSMF chapters.  He's also a really nice guy and I am privileged to get to work with him.

The HP staff held an impromptu surprise party  for David on the last evening of the exhibit floor show.  We lured him to the booth with an appointment to "meet with a customer".  Little did he realize....

I stood lookout in the hall for a while to watch for him coming.  When we finally tossed all the confetti and toasted to David and his award, he gave a short but moving speech and thanked the entire ITSM industry for "doing the real work".  He means you and me.  Is that cool or what?  But seriously David, your vision and nurturing of this industry has influenced IT deeply.  You BRING IT like you mean it and I like that in an industry leader.

Please join me in congratulating David on his most duly deserved recognition.
