A Closer Look: HP Service Manager 9.31

In case you missed the Vivit webinar on November 8, fret not—we’re here to fill you in! Product Marketing Manager Michael Pott, HPSM Product Line Director Jacques Conand and Director of ITSM Products Pat DeMartine gathered (virtually, anyway) to educate us on HP Service Manager 9.31.

Michael Pott held the floor first, beginning with a reminder to reserve your seat at the HP ITSM Vivit Roundtable led by Chuck Darst at HP Discover EMEA in Frankfurt on Wednesday, December 5 at 12:45 p.m. Central European Time.

Pott introduced Service Anywhere, which he described as the best of both SaaS and ITSM worlds. Jacques Conand gave a comprehensive overview on Service Manager 9.31 by highlighting what he referred to as one of the more important features for Service Manager as well as Service Anywhere: its enhanced social collaboration.

“One of the most important directions for Service Manager and Service Anywhere is the fact that we are increasingly building collaboration in all the processes that we have in Service Manager,” he said.

While Service Manager 9 features collaboration in the sense of incident and interaction, Service Manager 9.31 has added the ability for collaboration in the context of change and the ability to connect to someone outside of Service Manager through MS Lync.

Service Manager 9.31 also has enhanced SM-UCMDB integration that enables the customer to use the ‘view in UCMDB browser’ when they are viewing configuration items in Service Manager. It also has the ability to file the automatic creation of incident forms present during a planned period of downtime.

Pat DeMartine demoed Service Manager 9.31 and then capped off the webinar with a Q&A session.

One last thing—during the webinar Michael Pott said, “For the latest and greatest news and information, you may want to check the ITSM blog…you can also follow us on Twitter.”

You heard the man!
