HP rated ‘Positive’ in Gartner MarketScope for the IT Asset Management Repository 2013

HP Asset Manager software enables IT organizations to deliver cost-effective, timely business services by giving IT complete visibility into the assets under their control.  IT is able to increase its value to the business by improving return on the assets, vendor performance, internal and external compliance (policy, legal and contractual) and purchasing controls.  It can also implement effective chargeback to consuming organizations and compare its efficiency with external IT vendors.

In April of 2013, Gartner Inc. released its MarketScope for the IT Asset Management (ITAM) Repository research note, which assessed 14 ITAM vendors by evaluating the capabilities that are critical for the software entitlement controls, asset catalog/service request, software license and hardware asset management, integration capability, financial management, workflow automation, decision modeling and relationship mapping.

According to Gartner, never before have new device types, with smaller, mobile form factors, or new styles of computing emerged so rapidly. This necessitates a proactive stance toward ITAM — ITAM managers need to know more about technology than they did in the past. Furthermore, understanding the business's needs will accelerate the need to take a proactive stance.
