lost product key for windows xp pro sp1a

pc crashed had to replace hard drive how do i find the product key that is lost i have tried every thing on the net that i know to no avail please help

You will have to be able to boot from the old hard drive.
Or try www.computersurgeons.com
type in your model number and you can buy the original recovery discs.
Nobody can provide you with a product key.

Most HP pcs have the COA with license key attached to the case somewhere,usually on the side panel.

That is the Windows activation line, they can issue you a new product key there for free, just explain to them that your pc started giving you the error message about it not being genuin, and will nolonger accept the Windows Product key. They can help you with that, or you can preform a system recovery and that will do the same thing only using the old Product key.

If that number doesn't work, call Microsoft, and tell them that your pc was workign one day, the next you tried to log in and it said your product key was now invalid, they will get you over to the free support, if it's the same operating system that came on the pc.
