Is there a firmware update for an ATAPI DVD A DH16A1L DVD burner?

I can't seem to burn or read DVD+R discs. The system recognizes blank DVD+R discs, but will not write to them with either Roxio Creator Basic v9 or Windows Media Player.

I have no problem with CD+/-R discs.

I don't find an update on the HP site before you try any updates like that go into the device manager and delete the DVD drive and shut down totally. Then wait 10 seconds and boot the machine again. This may fix your problem you will most likely get a message that windows has found new hardware and is installing the drivers and then see if it works.
