945gct-hm / SR5010NX cpu upgrade

I have a SR5010NX with the 945GCT-HM motherboard, the motherboard details say that it supports "Core 2 Duo E4x00 with Dual Core technology (Conroe core)" >> E4x00 <<

SO, i purchased an E4600, when it trys to post i get a few beeps then it shows onscreen a message that says "unsupported processor"

i have already removed vista and am running xp pro, sp2. i was going to try the bios update , but it wants vista to run.

the latest bios says nothing about support for newer processors anyway,,,,

help?

Jason, it sounds to me like you need to clear the BIOS/CMOS. Anytime that you change the CPU, it is best to clear it.

Here is a link to the "Product information" on your motherboard:

Scroll down to the section titled "Clearing the BIOS settings" and "Clearing CMOS". They are located below the diagram of your motherboard.

Re: 945gct-hm / SR5010NX cpu upgrade

first thing i tried , but thanks anyway.

i think that it is going to require a bios update on compaq/hp's behalf, the processor fits the specs of what i was supposed to buy, probably just too new.

now if some brave soul out there has any info on flashing an ecs bios to this motherboard.....

or has anyone put an e4600 in one of these and had sucess?
