LAT Terminal Server

Hi all,

I need to replace a DECserver 90M with a brand new terminal server that supports LAT.

The old server and power supply is now far from being reliable and ideally a spanking new

box should be a lot more reliable.   The problem is I am having trouble locating a suitable

replacement product.   It MUST support LAT.    The FAX software can only use LAT.

The system is a AS4100.

Does anyone know of or is using a current product that supports LAT ?

Thanks,

John W.

John,

  LAT? In 2013?? Wow.

I thought there was a mob in India who took over the DECserver IP. I think they're called "Digital Networks" and they may still produce DECserver clones.

If not, I may be able to find you an ancient DECserver that hasn't been used for many years, so the PS doesn't have astronomical hours on it. Let me know if you want me to dig into my archive. I assume you have my email address?

Wouldn't it be easier to use a web based FAX gateway?

Maybe try these guys http://www.vnetek.com/s-211-decserver.aspx

(no idea who they are, no endorsment or recommendation expressed or implied ;-)

Re: LAT Terminal Server

Hi John,

Thanks for the reply.  Yes still using LAT.

I checked the VNETEK web site and they are all very high priced so I will go for

second hand again for the DECservers.   Probably will use new power supplies as the PS is the first to

fail - they get burned up and die.  I will  wire up a plug onto a readily available  +5V , 1.5A

PSU and this should last quite a while.

Best regards,

John W.

Re: LAT Terminal Server

Cisco may still sell devices that speak LAT, but I won't attempt to define affordable for your application.  I may have a Xyplex terminal server or two in storage, that I could be convinced to to part with if used and affordable are critical criteria.  Much of my used kit departed via EBay so I'll have to check.  These went off lease and were stored years ago.  See my profile for email info.

Re: LAT Terminal Server

Thanks Andy.

The project has been put on the backburner for now.

I will look at your suggestion to use a Cisco product.

Thanks all who responded.

Wow, instant messaging and private profiles now, okay.  You used to have a QOTD option available for public display.   It looks like I created a signature with the same note.  It's been a while since I've had the occasion to post on this forum.  Thanks for the PM info.
