flashing ROM on HP iPAQ 3870 usb connection not recognised

Hi

I hope there is anybody out there in this forum to help me.

I am trying to DOWNgrade my iPaq 3870 from WINPC2003 to WINPC2002. I have read all Information on upgrading, ecpeialley the tread from chris crowe in this forum. There should be a descriptin for downgrading, but I can not reach the path, which is in the thread.

My problem is, when I put the iPaq back in the cradle after putting it into the flash mode (button 2 and 4 and on/of an soft reset until USB Connection sreen appears), my computer (Windows 7) can not recognise the ipaq anymore, so that when I start the host11.exe a notice appers, that there is no USB connection. In the system manager (Windows 7) the cradle is known as mobile component "Microsoft USB sync", when set in  remote usb upload modus, and as "Compaq iPAQ USB Sync" when in normal modus. The Mobility Center of WIN 7 is not running.

I tried with an USB sync-cable, for no to be forced to get the iPAQ out of the cradle, but does not work.

It would be helpful if you included the URL of that topic.  Just use the post Options menu > Edit Reply.

To sync the ipaq with Win 7, you must install WMDC which is a free download from Microsoft. With WMDC on a Win 7 computer, you can sync WM2003 and later devices.
