In this third installment of a four-part blog series, Erik van Busschbach, Worldwide Program Director, HP Software Services explains how HP Software Services can help you implement the IT Performance Suite with minimal risk. The team helps you create a strategy and approach to quickly implement the IT Performance Suite so you gain value faster. Throughout the deployment, measurements are applied to achieve early success and drive momentum. Core to our approach is the application of our Common Solutions Framework (CSF) that powers our software solutions.

The second element powered by the Common Solution Framework (CSF) is where we architect the deployment. When implementing the IT Performance Suite, it is important to speak in business language to gain the requisite support from senior executives. As part of the business architecture, we create an operating model for IT and explain the rationale behind the team, including its mission for the business, objectives, capabilities, and responsibilities. With the direction set, we look at how to get there.
Matching the defined business architecture with the technical architecture involves preparing delivery frameworks specifying which technologies are required and when they should be deployed. We are able to accelerate this process through our library of reference frameworks, developed from thousands of software deployments. The frameworks save a huge amount of time and cost. For instance, while it can be tempting to prioritize projects that appear to deliver quick benefits, experience of past deployments may suggest that we first deliver less obvious components which will provide a firm foundation to build future success. A typical example is implementing the right foundation of configuration management and change management, which provides the common information basis to provide other capabilities with solid configuration data.
The frameworks break up the journey into a series of logical building blocks. Each block contributes to the overall project goal while allowing the implementation and adoption of the HP IT Performance Suite at a speed which suits the business while addressing the need to realize business outcomes. The building blocks in the framework also outline the education and change management needed so that teams can make the best use of the HP IT Performance Suite.
When I speak to customers about the architecting process, time and again the clarity of vision it provides is raised as a critical benefit. Any element of doubt about how to proceed is removed by the clear and considered strategy that saves time and cost and reduces risk by preparing for the swift and trouble-free delivery of the IT Performance Suite.
