Reflecting on 2013 and looking ahead to 2014 with HP Software

We have arrived in late December, and it is the time of year when many of us reflect on the past twelve months and make plans for the next twelve.  The same is true for me. I have had quite an eventful 2013, and I am excited to see what 2014 holds.

My year began with preparations for the HP Global Partner Conference.  This is our tier-one event for all of HP’s amazing partners and I was in my previous role on the partner marketing team.  The event was well received and will return in March 2014.

A new role means new adventures

In April, I transitioned to my current role as the community manager for the IT Experts Community.  I was immediately immersed in all things community at the 2013 Lithium Linc conference.  It was a great opportunity to network with community managers from around the globe.  Next up was HP Discover at the always popular Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.

At this event, I attended my first board meeting of our amazing independent user group Vivit.  If you are an vivit_logo.jpgHP Software customer or thinking about becoming an HP Software customer, please take a few minutes to learn more about this organization.

Improving your community experience

Following HP Discover my team launched a brand new version of our IT Experts Community hub.  We hope you like our new web site.  If you haven’t seen the updates, you must go see them. This is your one-stop shop for support forums, events, blogs and software downloads.

My most recent trip was to Barcelona, Spain for our HP Discover event in Europe.  It was a grand event with nearly 10,000 attendees at the Fira Grand Via.  If you were unable to attend or simply would like to re-experience some of the sessions, HP Software Backstage is the perfect site for you. Here are some links to some of my favorite sessions:

I finished off my year by volunteering with my HP colleagues to package 10,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now.   This is anlogo-stop-hunger-now.png ambitious program that has worked with volunteers to package over 126 million meals.  This was a very humbling experience for all of us and if you ever get the opportunity to do something like this, don’t hesitate to volunteer.  This is one of my favorite activities of the year.

Big plans for 2014

Next year I am looking forward to more innovations across the IT Experts Community:

  • Improvements to the user experience for our support forums and blogs
  • The IT Experts Community app for iOS and Android
  • New developer communities and tools for HAVEn and HP Cloud (FORJ)
  • A Flipbook for one or more IT Experts Community blogs

Looking forward to connecting with all of you in 2014!
