Recapping HAVEn, Cloud OS and Backstage at HP Discover

Behind the scenes at HP Discover Las Vegas

HP Discover was an amazing technology event in Las Vegas. But, what happens after the excitement and smoke clear the air? The videos created at the event are the best way to keep the excitement fresh.

In this post I want to recap the HP Software key announcements and videos which I think you will want to check out. I’ll try to summarize the announcements and point you to additional information from the event.

Fair warning though, this blog post will have a lot of links, but hopefully it will be a good source to track the news and happenings from HP Discover in Las Vegas this year.

 HAVEn

The biggest announcement from HP Software centered on HAVEn, HP’s answer to the big data challenges most organizations are facing today.   HAVEn stands for Hadoop, Autonomy, Vertica, Enterprise Security and n - number of applications.  Only HP has the intellectual property in technology, services and partnerships needed to deliver the best enterprise outcomes from big data.

The challenges of big data come down to five key areas:

  1. Volume
  2. Variety
  3. Velocity
  4. Vulnerability
  5. Value

Hear more from each of the LOB leaders as they explain what HAVEn is and how this big data platform addresses each of the challenges above.

Evolution of HP Converged Cloud

Another key announcement at HP Discover was around the evolution of the HP Converged Cloud.  It’s the next step of

the HP cloud strategy as it ensures the common architecture foundation across all our offerings. Cloud OS is a foundational technology component, delivering an enterprise-grade OpenStack® with:

  • Optimized workload portability for hybrid cloud delivery
  • Enhanced service lifecycle management
  • Simplified installation and upgrades
