Get a little help from 15,000 friends

I like to think that we do a good job in helping you train your project team and users in HP Software. But did you know that when you buy HP Software get a lot of free enablement opportunities too? Especially from our Vivit community – a forum that provides a great deal of helpful options, including the ability to ask for advice from 15,000 people. In this guest blog HP’s Channel Partner, and PCI Vice President, Rocky Pisto, who plays a leading role in Vivit, tells you more about why you should get involved.

When mulling this blog over songs were playing in my head – The Best Things in Life are Free (Vandross and Jackson) and With a Little Help From My Friends (Fab Four). The titles capture Vivit’s spirit – we’re an independent community where all the content is free and help from our 15,000 members is a post away. Any HP Software customer can join. So why drop in?

Here for you: You might recall the HP OpenView network management suite. Because it was one of the first genuine enterprise class network tools, a user community was started by customers to build knowledge, share insight and get more return on investment. From this small acorn, we grew big. We may have changed the name to Vivit* in 2006 as HP Software’s offering grew but the culture’s identical; Vivit’s run by users, for users. We were crowdsourcers before the cool kids coined the phrase. With Vivit, the power of community is in your corner.

One for all and all for one: Vivit members often tell me that they’ve solved some tricky issues via our forum. However obtuse your issue is, I’ll bet you someone’s seen it before. So why not pose a question and see?

Free virtual content: You can boost your team’s skills with our free content. We regularly hold webinars – generally around new product releases and upgrades – and hot issues such as Big Data, mobile, the cloud and more. They tend to be an hour long and transcripts and recordings are available. Questions are open to anyone and there’s often lively debate.  We’ve got a new webinar coming up in September on the challenges and trends in IT training – now’s a great time to register. The events are hosted by partners or put on by the 15 special interest groups (SIGs) situated across the globe. The SIGs focus on areas including data center automation, agile, business intelligence, mobile, security and more. In fact if an issue is hot there’s usually a SIG for it.

Networking and events: We also have 71 local chapters worldwide hosting face-to-face events. Attendance is free, with content provided by leading Vivit members and often supported by HP and HP partners. Recent examples include a roundtable on Performance Testing in Atlanta, a forum in New Delhi about mining Big Data, and a Testing and Management seminar in Köln.

Search for the answer: A comprehensive knowledge base connects you with relevant IT training and enablement, webinars, support documents, discussion threads and more; insight is just a quick search away.

Save money: We often get you money off events and access to valuable sessions at shows such as HP Discover. At the last event in Vegas we hosted enablement sessions on how to get the most out of key software products – including customisation. We ran the training along the lines of a consultancy session. With some heavyweight HP experts running the gig, people who attended raved about the content.

Boost your profile: You and your team do great work. So why not get some recognition by talking at Vivit events? It’ll help boost your profile and create new connections with peers and HP.

If there’s anything that you’d like to see on Vivit we’re all ears – please let us know below. Also, you can contact us and join here. The power of the community lies in its members – I hope to see you soon – virtually or in person.
